Child Trauma

Contrary to beliefs held by many, childhood trauma doesn’t just involve loss and bereavement.

In addition, your child doesn’t need to be a direct victim of crime nor a witness to a traumatic event to be traumatised. Sometimes, all they need is to hear about it.

There are many events in a child’s life that could cause him to be traumatised to the point where his development is interrupted and her behaviour changes.

Childhood trauma is marked by an overwhelming sense of terror and powerlessness causing your child to struggle to manage the demands of normal daily life.

Remember – “A child old enough to smile is old enough to experience trauma.”

If this is your child and you want to help him or her move beyond this time in his or her life, then do get in touch.

How I work with your child

There are 2 evidence-based and structured therapies that I usually employ with my young clients – EMDR (Eye Movement and Desensitisation and Reprocessing) or SITCAP (Structured Sensory Intervention for Traumatised Children, Adolescents and Parents).

Your child will attend between 6 – 10 sessions (more maybe necessary, for instance where they are dealing with more than one traumatic memory or if it takes them a while to engage with the sessions. Each session lasts for 50 mins (£95 per session).

All sessions are face-to-face and are held in my London therapy room located at 335 City Road, London, EC1V ILJ
